The Process

SQ Medical Solution supports surgeons in making complex decisions in everyday patient treatment. The solution comprises a range of advanced software tools for surgery planning and simulation combined with an off-site reconstruction of 3D virtual organ models of specific patients. The software tools support planning and simulation of a number of surgical procedures. The example depicted is based on SQ Pelvis.

Step 1: Data acquisition of DICOM-compatible data (MRI, CT scan, etc.)

SQ Medical Solution is based on 3D models of human organs reconstructed from existing actual-patient data, typically acquired by hospital's CT or MRI equipment. The basic data are wired through to SQ Reconstruction Team.

Step 2: 3D reconstruction model built based on data received, situation analysis

Based on the data acquired, SQ Reconstruction Team builds the corresponding 3D model. To ensure the required level of quality, SQ Reconstruction Team includes radiology experts who verify and make necessary modifications to the 3D model before wiring it back to the client.

Step 3: Surgery planning and simulation

The surgeon opens the 3D model in the relevant SQ Tool application where they perform detailed diagnostics of the patient. The planning and simulation of the surgery are also done in the 3D virtual environment where all surgical tools and equipment are available as in the actual operating theatre.
